The Release of Rescued and How I Wrote a Song

Rescued is my 5th book in my Lora Kate London series. What a wild ride it has been in the publishing industry! And by wild, I mean super hard. Self publishing has so many blessings, but also, so many hardships. It requires a lot of work and time. As a full-time educator and a mom, it's hard to find the time necessary to be "successful" in this business. Every sale and review mean so very much.

I may not a New York Times Best Seller, but it doesn't mean I can't get there. Good things are coming my way...I can just feel it.

But let's get to the tea. In Rescued, my main character, Lora Kate, writes and debuts a single. It was her anthem. Writing this song allowed her to find healing after a traumatic attack from a stalker.

I've read books where there is a song. In fact, there's a song in From New York to L.A. and Just a Little Frosting, but I didn't feel the PULL to sing those. They weren't L.K.'s. But I wanted to hear Rescued. I wanted to feel it.

So I wrote it. I found a free backing track on YouTube and created the melody for Rescued. I recorded it on my phone and thought "maybe someday."

But someday arrived and I didn't know how in the world I would release a song, but I knew it could be done. My band director from high school said he could help me. And HE DID! We recorded my song, he composed and added more instruments, and then we got it all ready. I used TunesCore to release my song and it was so easy. TERRIFYING, but fairly easy.

Then came the big jump...releasing it to the public. Putting my song into the wild.

And I did it. I DID IT!!!!

Rescued is available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music, etc. Please take a listen and I hope you enjoy it! And if you're really sweet, you'd buy Rescued the book when it releases JUNE 1! Will be available on ebook, paperback, and hardback
